Henry Hathaway directs this black and white drama starring Gary Cooper and Ann Harding. The story follows the lives of Gogo (Dickie Moore), a young English boy living in Paris, and his friend Mimsey (Virginia Weidler). When Gogo´s mother suddenly dies, he is moved back to England to live with his uncle and given a more suitable name of Peter.
Now an adult, Peter (Cooper) is an architect working on the restoration of a manor house for the Duke and Duchess of Towers (John Halliday and Harding). As he develops a connection with the Duchess, Peter suddenly realises that she bears a striking resemblence to his childhood friend Mimsey
