Annie and Baxter Fang (Kidman and Bateman) had an extremely unusual childhood, with their parents using them as props in their performance art pieces. As Annie grows up to be a successful actress and Baxter an acclaimed author, they return to their family home after Baxter is shot and in need of recuperation.
