Joe McNamara (Saldaña) is the CIA officer in charge of the Lioness Program, which places women in battle to carry out specific female-led missions. Working alongside her is hardened former Marine Cruz Manuelos (Laysla De Oliveira), who is recruited for a dangerous undercover assignment.

In this season, Captain Josephina Carillo (Genesis Rodriguez) is recruited to the Lioness Program to assist after a US Congresswoman is kidnapped by a Mexican cartel.
