Collection of four ghost stories based on short stories by M.R. James, written and directed by Mark Gatiss. In ´The Tractate Middoth´ (2013) young librarian William Garrett (Sacha Dhawan) is drawn into a terrifying mystery involving a book, a rotting ghost and a hidden will.
´The Dead Room´ (2018) stars Simon Callow as Aubrey Judd, the veteran presenter of a horror radio show who realises that he is not alone in his studio. Something from his past has returned. In ´Martin´s Close´ (2019) John Martin (Wilf Scolding) is on trial for murder, but the girl he is accused of killing has been seen walking around after her supposed death.
Finally, ´The Mezzotint´ (2021) finds museum curator Mr Williams (Rory Kinnear) in possession of a disturbing engraving that changes each time he looks at it
