Jean Gabin and Michèle Morgan star in this French drama directed by Marcel Carné. Army deserter Jean (Gabin) arrives in Le Havre looking for a fresh start and passage abroad. There he meets 17-year-old Nelly (Morgan) who has run away from her supposed protector Zabel (Michel Simon) and the two soon fall in love.
