Alain Cavalier directs this French-language psychological drama set against a backdrop of political upheaval. Jean-Louis Trintignant stars as Clement, an affluent right-wing activist married to aspiring actress Anne (Romy Schneider). When Clement is betrayed by a comrade, he and Anne seek refuge in the home of his friend Paul (Henri Serre), and Clement determines to find the man who betrayed him and wreak his revenge.

But complications arise when Anne admits to having feelings for Paul
