Haifaa Al-Mansour directs this drama about a female Saudi Arabian doctor who stands for election. The film follows Dr Maryam Alsafan (Mila Al Zahrani) as she stands in the local municipal election. As the town´s first female candidate, she struggles to gain acceptance from the conservative, male-dominated population.
However, her campaign goes viral and Maryam decides to embrace her new-found position as a champion of her community and women´s rights in the kingdom
