Ratt oli Los Angelesin Sunset Stripin hard rock- ja glam metal -skenen keskeisiä nimiä 1980-luvun alussa. Yhtye nousi läpimurtoon debyyttialbumillaan Out Of The Cellar vuonna 1984, erityisesti hittisinglen “Round and Round” ansiosta. Ratt tunnetaan tarttuvista kitarariffeistä, melodisesta hard rock -soundista ja siitä, että se auttoi määrittelemään koko 1980-luvun amerikkalaisen glam metal -aallon.
