Set 19 years after the formation of the Galactic Empire, the Death Star is nearing completion and will soon be capable of destroying planets. When Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), leader of the Rebel Alliance, discovers the Empire’s plans, she is captured and taken to the Death Star.
Meanwhile, farm boy Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) meets Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) who vows to teach Luke how to be a Jedi like his father. When they discover that the princess has been kidnapped, they team up with smuggler Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Wookie warrior Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) and droids C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) and R2-D2 (Kenny Baker) in a bid to rescue Leia and ultimately aid the rebellion
