Francis Searle directs this thriller starring Sid James and Betty Ann Davies. When Joan Clavering (Hazel Penwarden)´s father Henry (James) is killed in a staged accident orchestrated by his second wife Bertha (Davies), they learn from Henry´s will that Bertha will inherit a token amount of money while Joan receives the bulk of the Clavering fortune. Enraged, Bertha sets out to prove Joan´s lack of sanity and therefore inability to inherit with the help of her scheming daughter Janice (Sheila Burrell).
