The entertaining pair of Sam Lee and Francis Ng star in Believe It Or Not, an entertaining horror-comedy from noted director Wellson Chin. Sam Lee is Joe, a nice-guy delivery boy who can’t get a date with his dream girl Mandy (Anita Chan). But Joe’s luck changes on July 14th, the date that the Gate to Hell opens and restless spirits are let loose in Hong Kong. On that day, Mandy gets possessed by a ghost professing to be the future daughter of Joe and Mandy. The spirit needs help avenging her death, which supposedly came at the hands of an unscrupulous, and somewhat wacky cop played with over-the-top flair by Francis Ng. Joe makes it his mission to take down the cop, which is tougher than it seems because the guy is a cop, and Joe is just a delivery boy! And is the spirit really on the level? Part comedy, part horror film, and all amusing, Believe It Or Not is good fun thanks to sly performances from popular actors Sam Lee and Francis Ng. Director Wellson Chin was also responsible for a number of creative and engaging horror comedies, including Thou Shalt Not Swear, The Third Full Moon, and 24 Hrs. Ghost Story.
