The intellectual Ferdinand Griffon, known as ”Pierrot”, is bored with his bourgeois life. When he meets his former lover Marianne again, he spontaneously leaves his family for her. On their journey to the south of France, the lovers cut a bloody swath of devastation through the country until Ferdinand is kidnapped and tortured by gangsters. He is supposed to tell the criminals where Marianne is hiding. Based on the explosive cult novel ”Obsession” by Lionel White, legendary director Jean-Luc Godard made an award-winning gangster ballad that wrote film history with brilliant acting performances and revolutionary narrative techniques.
