Susan Hampshire and Michael Petrovitch star in this British horror directed by Fred Burnley. Anna (Hampshire) seeks to escape from her problems by taking a holiday to Jersey. There she meets lighthouse keeper Hugh (Petrovitch) and the two fall in love, much to the disapproval of Hugh´s brother George (Frank Finlay).

They travel to Scotland together but when Hugh suddenly dies on a beach, Anna refuses to accept that he is gone. Utterly bereft, she longs for him to return and her prayers are seemingly answered when he appears before her again. However, it soon becomes apparent that he is not the same person he once was.

The cast also includes Michael Craze and Jack Lambert
