Young American student Jane Chase (Elisabeth Shue) takes on an assistant position with British zoologist Dr. Steven Phillips (Terence Stamp). He conducts intelligence experiments on chimpanzees in a secluded villa by the sea. When Jane takes her place, the highly intelligent orangutan called Link opens the door in a butler costume. But when he is to be euthanized, the primacy becomes more and more aggressive and Dr. Phillips has suddenly disappeared. Can Jane manage to tame the animals?
