Post-apocalyptic musical drama from director Joshua Oppenheimer. A wealthy family, headed by Mother and Father (Tilda Swinton and Michael Shannon), have lived for two decades in a salt mine following an environmental disaster which left the lands above uninhabitable. Along with their Son (George MacKay), they live with Mother´s Friend (Bronagh Gallagher), their Butler (Tim McInnerny) and Doctor (Lennie James), all believing that life above no longer exists.

When a Girl (Moses Ingram) finds her way into the mine, with the story that her family were all killed trying to cross a river, the family reluctantly allow her to stay, remaining dubious of her motives. When the Son begins to develop feelings for the Girl however, Mother and Father face big decisions
