Bill Travers and William Sylvester star in this sci-fi action directed by Eugène Lourié. When Captain Joe Ryan (Travers)´s salvage ship is damaged, he and his First Officer Sam Slade (Sylvester) dock at Nara Island to begin repairs. They learn that there is something dangerous in the water there, a monstrous creature capable of killing humans, and Ryan and his crew work with the locals to catch it.

Once they succeed, Ryan sells it to a circus in London where it is exhibited in a pit in Battersea Park. However, it soon becomes apparent that the creature is only a baby and its mother is desperate to reclaim her child. She is even larger and she will destroy anything that stands in her way
