Johnny Depp stars in this Western written and directed by Jim Jarmusch. William Blake (Depp) travels to the frontier town of Machine to take up a position at the town´s metal works, only to discover that the vacancy has already been filled. After being chased away by the company´s violent owner John Dickinson (Robert Mitchum), Blake becomes involved in a series of chaotic and violent confrontations which leave him wounded and close to death.

However, his fortunes change when he is befriended by a Native American outcast called Nobody (Gary Farmer) who vows to be his guide for the rest of his journey. The cast also includes Lance Henriksen, Gabriel Byrne and Crispin Glover
